"Children are a gift from the Lord"

I (roland) don't normally post on this blog, but felt it necessary to show this clip from Sunday's ABC This Week. Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the house, says that "birth control" and "contraception" will reduce costs to the states and federal government. (i.e. less children=less cost for our govt. The extrapolation of this view is frightening!) Keep in mind Ms. Pelosi has 5 children and 6 grand children. How ironic and sad that she would imply that children are responsible for the "downturn of our economy." How short sighted.
Scripture, however, says that "Children are a blessing from the Lord. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." Psalm 127:3-5

A Seven year-old's Summary of Squids

We have been studying cephalopods in science...octopus, squid, and nautilus. At the end of the lesson, I have each kid write a narration of what they learned that week. Claire chose to write about squids. I loved her paragraph so much I didn't want to correct it. It has brought many smiles to our faces! Here it is, unedited.

After the mom squid gets maryed she lays her eggs. The eggs look like their in little cases. The mom clumps them together and it looks like a flower. Sometims they lay their eggs at onc usually they do. Some of the squids only live for a couple years isn't that sad think about it if you lived for two years I'm glad god made us difrent from squid.

I guess the moral of the story is....there's always something to be thankful for. Today you can be thankful that you're not a squid!

Happy 40th Birthday, Roland!

Yes, it's true! My dear husband turned the big 4-0 today! Wow. I'm married to an old guy. (Never mind the fact that people have mistaken him for my son!)
We had a great day as a family celebrating. I also surprised him by bringing cake and balloons to Discovery (our Wed. night program at church). So he was able to share his birthday with 80 kids. Unfortunately, he didn't even get to eat a piece of his own birthday cake. (A kid named William confessed that he ate six!) Oh well, it's probably better to cut back on sweets anyway...at his age. : )

I love you, honey. Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Kailyn!

Today we are celebrating Kailyn's 11th birthday! Words cannot express how thankful I am to the Lord for her...I am so thankful for the good work that God has done in her heart. She brings us great joy each and every day.
