When we moved in to the house this spring, the owner, Don, offered to put in a raised garden bed for us. I was initially hesitant to have him go to all the trouble since we didn't know how long we'd be here. But, since summer is fast approaching and it doesn't look like our house is selling soon, he went ahead and put it in yesterday. The kids and I didn't waste any time getting it planted. We planted tomatoes, onions, zucchini, jalapenos, basil and cilantro. It's our first garden and we're all so excited about it. : )

Birds
Lately, Emily and Ashley have been crazy about anything that has to do with birds. They've found many nests around the property. They've found empty eggshells on the ground. But their biggest desire has been to see baby birds hatch from eggs. Well, this week their wish came true. The eggs we have been watching hatched. It was the highlight of their week!

This Momentary Marriage
I started reading This Momentary Marriage by John Piper. A great, thought-provoking book. (As though Piper writes anything light!)
"...ultimately, marriage is the display of God. It displays the covenant-keeping love between Christ and his people to the world in a way that no other event or institution does. Marriage, therefore, is not mainly about being in love. It’s mainly about telling the truth with our lives. And staying married is not about staying in love. It is about keeping covenant and putting the glory of Christ’s covenant-keeping love on display."
