More good news...

Last week we received the official paperwork from the Philippines (the "referral") matching us with the twins! It's really the final big step before we travel. Needless to say we were very excited. We were a little surprised, though, at how much paperwork needed to be filled out, signed, notarized, etc. to accept the referral.(Why this continually surprises us, I don't know!) We ended up spending $170.00 to get all the papers notarized! (At $8.00 per notary stamp, you can do the math....) Anyway, we were happy to complete all the paperwork and get that in the mail today! yipee. Several more months and then, Lord willing, we will travel to pick up our new daughters! My dad gave the final okay for my mom to join us, so all six of us will be traveling together. Praise God!

An encouraging week...

CRYSTAL

LAVINIA

We got a surprise email this week from the orphanage director where our girls live. He wanted to make contact with us and let us know how thankful they are that the twins will be going to a Christian home. He sent us these (and many other) pictures. He also told us a little more about the girls-their daily schedule, personalities, etc. It's been a fun week emailing back and forth! We are going to set up an appointment to talk with them and see them via Skype...
We are so thankful for the love and care they are receiving.

"Children are a gift from the Lord"

I (roland) don't normally post on this blog, but felt it necessary to show this clip from Sunday's ABC This Week. Nancy Pelosi, speaker of the house, says that "birth control" and "contraception" will reduce costs to the states and federal government. (i.e. less children=less cost for our govt. The extrapolation of this view is frightening!) Keep in mind Ms. Pelosi has 5 children and 6 grand children. How ironic and sad that she would imply that children are responsible for the "downturn of our economy." How short sighted.
Scripture, however, says that "Children are a blessing from the Lord. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them." Psalm 127:3-5

A Seven year-old's Summary of Squids

We have been studying cephalopods in science...octopus, squid, and nautilus. At the end of the lesson, I have each kid write a narration of what they learned that week. Claire chose to write about squids. I loved her paragraph so much I didn't want to correct it. It has brought many smiles to our faces! Here it is, unedited.

After the mom squid gets maryed she lays her eggs. The eggs look like their in little cases. The mom clumps them together and it looks like a flower. Sometims they lay their eggs at onc usually they do. Some of the squids only live for a couple years isn't that sad think about it if you lived for two years I'm glad god made us difrent from squid.

I guess the moral of the story is....there's always something to be thankful for. Today you can be thankful that you're not a squid!
